A Trusted Network for Masonic Libraries & Museums

BINO Project (Books Indexed Neatly Online)

In support of the Masonic Library and Museum Association’s mission to enhance research access and collaboration among its members, we are pleased to introduce the BINO Project, or Books Indexed Neatly Online.

BINO provides a centralized platform through which MLMA members may search collections across participating institutions. This unified search capability allows users to efficiently identify the location of specific books and resources within member collections, significantly improving access to materials that may not be available within their home institution.

Our goal is to include collection data from all MLMA institutional members. Libraries and museums of all sizes are encouraged to contribute. Even a single unique volume may fulfill the research needs of another member. As participation increases, the system becomes more robust and valuable to the entire association.

Participation Guidelines

Institutions wishing to participate in BINO should follow these steps:

  1. Prepare Collection Data
Export catalog records into a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file. It is recommended that records include, at minimum, title, author, publisher, and publication date.
  2. Submit or Link Your Data
Collections may be incorporated directly into the BINO platform or linked to an existing online catalog, allowing users to search holdings through your institution’s system.
  3. Request Assistance.
Institutions needing assistance with data preparation or submission may request support via email. Guidance will be provided to facilitate participation.
  4. Maintain Updated Records
Participating institutions should periodically review and update their data to ensure accuracy and reliability..

Participation in BINO strengthens a shared research network that benefits all MLMA members. By contributing collection data, institutions help create a more comprehensive and accessible body of knowledge, supporting scholarship, education, and fraternal research.

As the platform continues to expand, BINO will serve as an essential tool for connecting collections and advancing research across the association.
